Ground Loop Design

The heart of the geothermal system is the ground loop.  A well designed and properly installed loop field will provide a customer with a very efficient geothermal heat pump system.  This is nothing that should be left to chance or rule of thumb.  Thermterra will analyze the soil conditions for your system and properly design a loop field to optimize performance.  Years of testing and case studies for the Northern US have enabled Thermterra to know what size and type of loop field will work best for each application.  Proper earth loop lengths are critical for optimum pressure drops and to ensure turbulent flow to increase heat transfer in the loop field.  Another key factor in loop field design is the proper circulating pump for the geothermal fluid in the earth loops.  A pump that is to large will adversely affect heat pump system efficiency by drawing more power than is needed to circulate fluid.  A pump that is to small will not circulate enough fluid for the heat pump to operate properly.   Thermterra has all the necessary resources and experience to properly size all the geothermal loop field components.
